Soap was first noticed by Roman women at the base of MT SOPA. While washing their clothes in the river they marveled at how clean their washing became and of all the sudsy foam that was created as they washed their clothes in the river. But some sources say that the ancient Egyptians first created a form of soap by mixing fats from animals with ashes, which formed a natural sodium hydroxide that turned the fat into a sludgy soap.

The ancient art of handcrafted Soap making was perfected in the Castile region of Spain in the 16^{th century. Starting with a variety of vegetable oils such as olive, coconut or palm, soap makers used all natural ingredients. Today, we add specialized oils, nut butters, seed extracts and fragrant or essential oils.}

Most homemakers made their own soap up until World War II, when the prohibitive costs of oils forced marketers to look at an alternative. So, chemical detergents were invented in the laboratory as an alternative to real soap. With this invention came all sorts of skin problems. Many people ourselves included, began to experience conditions like eczema, psoriasis and dry irritated skin. Even most so called moisturizing commercial soap is still just detergent.
